Este artículo plantea Que la literatura de Roberto Arlt está atravesada por la modernidad, tanto por los temas Que expone su narrativa como por el modo en Que los aborda. En un primer punto se hace referencia a los cambios socioculturales producidos en Buenos Aires de principios de siglo XX. Luego se analiza el lugar ocupado por Arlt en el campo intelectual en función de cómo se posicionó frente a aquellos cambios. En cuanto a esto se tiene en cuenta la oposición que existió entre el autor y la denominada "cultura oficial" en base a lo Que era considerado literatura, la mirada sobre los inmigrantes, etc. Por último se hace mención al nuevo paisaje urbano que el autor describe, y se lo relaciona con el concepto de modernidad para dar cuenta de cómo ésta se hace presente en sus obras.This article describes how Roberto ArIt's writing goes constantly through the concept of modernity, regarding the themes of his narrative and the way they are described. First of all, there is a reference to the sociocultural changes in Buenos Aires at the beginning of the XX century. Then, we analyze the author's position in the intelectual circles dueto his approach to those changes, bearing in mind his opposition to the so called "mainstream culture" based on the consideration of whatwas, by then, intended by literature, his particular view of the immigrants, among other topics. Finally, there is a mention to the new urban scenery that the author envisions, and how it relates to the concept of modernity as a living presence in all of his works.
